The Canadian Friends of Scotland presented a plaque, and ceremonial bottle of scotch to the Town of Canmore in honour of Donald A. Smith, who has been credited with the official naming of the Town of Canmore 125 years ago. read more>>

WILLIAM WHYTE was born in Charlestown, Fife, Scotland on September 15, 1843. He began his railway career as a station agent for the West of Fife Railway in 1862. read more>>

James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin

  Lord Elgin, or should I say, James Bruce, 8th Earl of Elgin, was born in London on July 20, 1811 and died in Dhurmsala in the Himalayas on November 20, 1863.  He was a well-educated man having attended Eton and Christ Church (Oxford).
